History of the MOD30
1972 Taylor Instrument Company introduced a new line of instruments
- 300T series pneumatic transmitter
- 440R series pneumatic local controller
- 1400R/J series pneumatic panel board controller & recorder
- 1100T series MagPipe magnetic flowmeter
- 1300T series electronic transmitter
- 1300R/J series electronic panel board controller & recorder
1973 Taylor Instrument was purchased by Sybron Corporation
1983 Taylor Instrument was purchased by Combustion Engineering
- Taylor Instrument introduced the MOD30 microprocessor controller
1989 ABB (Asea Brown Boveri) acquired Combustion Engineering
- Taylor Instrument became ABB Kent-Taylor as it merged with Kent (previously acquired by ABB)
1991 ABB Kent-Taylor introduced the MODCELL Multiloop Cell controller
1994 Specialized System Integration, Inc. was incorporated
1996 ABB Kent-Taylor introduced the MOD 30ML controller
1999 Elsag Bailey was purchased by ABB
- F&P Fisher & Porter was purchased by ABB
- ABB Instrumentation became the new name for Taylor, Kent, Bailey and F&P
2004 MicroMod Automation purchased the MOD family from ABB

Taylor has officially placed most of the MOD30 items in "STOP SALE" in the late 1990s, they have a new generation Taylor MOD30ML (multi-loop) controller to replace the old MOD30 in the same size opening. The new MOD30ML controller is much more powerful with a much-improved display/keypad. If you're interested in upgrading to the MOD30 ML.
